Met Office forecasters have indicated that the intense heatwave currently affecting the United Kingdom is expected to begin easing. This forecast follows a period of extreme conditions during which temperatures reached over 37C, marking what The Mirror reports as the hottest June day ever recorded in the country. While some forecasts indicate a plunge toward 13C, other reporting from The Independent suggests a drop of up to 15 degrees.

Earlier reporting from The Independent noted that red warnings were issued for parts of England and Wales as the heat intensified on Wednesday and Thursday. These warnings were issued in response to the extreme heat conditions recorded during the first half of the week.

Following these peaks, the Met Office now anticipates a significant drop in temperature. Forecasts suggest a cooling trend will lead to a fall toward approximately 13C. This shift marks a transition away from the period of high temperatures that prompted local warnings and necessitated measures to manage the heat. The transition is expected to provide relief for regions that were under active weather alerts.
