Privacy Policy
Amalgam News doesn't require an account, a login, or any personal information to read. This page explains the little data that is involved: what's collected automatically by visiting the site, what's stored only in your own browser, and what happens if you email us.
What we don't collect
There are no user accounts, no comments, no newsletter signup, and no first-party analytics or tracking script on this site. We don't build a profile of who's reading, and we don't sell or share visitor data with anyone, because we don't collect any to begin with.
Standard server logs
Like effectively every website, requests to this site pass through our hosting/CDN provider (Cloudflare), which keeps standard operational logs (IP address, browser user agent, requested page, timestamp) for security and reliability purposes — for example, mitigating abuse or diagnosing an outage. We don't access these logs to track individual visitors, and they aren't linked to anything else about you.
What's stored in your browser
The only thing this site stores in your browser is your light/dark theme preference, saved
via localStorage so it's remembered on your next visit. It never leaves your
browser and isn't sent to us or anyone else.
Cookies and ads
This site does not currently display any ads, and does not set any advertising or analytics cookies. (If that changes in future, this section will say so and explain what's involved.)
If you email us
If you contact us — for a correction request, a takedown request, or anything else — we keep your email address and the contents of your message only for as long as needed to respond to and resolve that request. We don't add you to a mailing list or share that information with anyone outside of investigating your specific request.
Links to other sites
Articles link out to the original news outlets they were synthesized from, and to social media posts referenced as public reaction. Those sites have their own, separate privacy practices that this policy doesn't cover — check their own policies before sharing anything with them.
Children's privacy
This site is a general-audience news site, not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If how this site handles data changes — for example, if ads are turned on for the first time — this page is updated to match before that change goes live, not after.
